Test Data

Noted Abnormalities;

• patrol speed shadowing (occasional slight effect)
  Large truck stopping 50 yards (150 feet or 46 meters) in front of patrol car caused patrol speed reading to change from 40 to 28 mph. Other large trucks in front of patrol car and trucks passing patrol car had no effect.
• target speed bumping (batching)
  Occasionally subtracted 2 to 3 mph from target reading when patrol car accelerated.
• Panning error
  Panning produced 75 mph displayed target speed.
• AC/Heater fan
  No effect when bonafide target present. Picked up fan intermittently while mounted on dash. Scanning dash with fan on produced speed readings proportional to fan speed. Picked up fan when radar pointed out rear window (radar held above back of front seat).
• external 100 watt police radio
  With radar mounted on dash external 100 watt radio produced speed readings of 45 and 31 mph up to 20 feet away.
• internal CB radio
  When radar and CB connected to same battery, false speed readings depending on frequency of CB audio.
• internal 100 watt police radio
  Blanked out patrol and target speed readings.
• internal handheld 2 watt police radio
  Occasionally blanked out target reading.
