CPL Approved -- single antenna and no auto-lock
Some units use automobile speedometer cable to measure patrol car speed instead of the radar (moving mode only). This feature is intended to eliminate batching errors, and allows officers to operate radar in stop and go traffic without switching radar between stationary and moving mode.
OPERATION
-
S-80
single piece (dash mounted)
-- rear interior Antenna (optional)
-- Remote Control
S-80 MC
-- 2 piece (dash mounted antenna and display)
-- rear interior Antenna (optional)
-- Remote Control
- X or K band models
- Intant-On or Continuous transmission
- stationary or moving mode
- Traffic Direction
on-coming and going (stationary mode)
opposite direction (moving mode)
- sample time: 1/8 second (125 ms)
- beamwidth;
-- 18° (X band)
-- 15° (K band)
CONTROLS
- Lock / Run / Standby
Standby -- radar on but not transmitting
Run -- radar transmitting
Lock -- allows rof a remote lock/release featrue
- Lock / Release -- locks/unlocks speed reading
- Moving / Stationary switch
- Town / Country switch
Town -- patrol speed between 15 and 40 mph
Country -- patrol speed between 30 and 69 mph
- Light Test / ICT (Internal Circuits test)
- Audio Volume control (on remote)
- Audio Squelch / Squelch Override (inhibits squelch and keeps receiver open)
- Range control (optional)
- Front / Standby / Rear (optional)
- Day / Night switch
- On / Off switch
DISPLAYS / INDICATORS
- Target Speed:
20 to 100 mph (stationary)
20 to 209 mph closing (moving mode)
- Target Locked Speed
- Patrol Car Speed:
20 to 55 mph
15 to 69 mph (special order)
- Indicators
Low Voltage
Overload -- signal/echo too strong, radar blanked
Coherence Detector -- harmonics detected, radar blanked
RFI
Transmitter Light -- indicates radar transmitting
- Speaker -- audio Doppler tone
